a first look at droid…
you’ve probably seen those idont commercials touting a mysterious new phone’s ability to do things iphone can’t. droiddoes the advertisement says in a stylized ending sequence looking like an offspring made from the coupling of the intro to the movie se7en and a sci-fi thriller.
droid will use google’s new operating system, android 2.0, sport a 5.0 megapixel camera that can take pictures in the dark, allow open source development for applications, and pull contacts from your facebook and store them in your phone. it will also be exclusive to at&t rival verizon which is hoping to recover some of its lost market share to the iphone-philes that jumped ship.
the reviewer compares the two phones, but it’s just a first look. droid releases early november, and more reviews will pour in once techies get longer and deeper looks. iphone killer? if anything, apple is probably hard at work on an iphone 4.
